Meet Freja! *UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!*

Meet Freja, a sweet two year-old southern gal originally from Texas available for adoption at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter! Freja was brought in with a friend, but the friend was adopted within hours and poor Freja was left all alone in a strange place with strange people and it took her some time to adapt to shelter life. But after the amazing shelter staff and volunteers gave her the time and space to adjust, this adorable American Bulldog mix appreciated the treats, long walks on the trails, playing with toys in the fenced-in play area and snuggles with all her admirers and has really blossomed! She previously lived with cats and other dogs, but seems to do better with male dogs; she is also food-possessive, so she may or may not do best as an only pet. Freja also must be trying out for high jump in the Olympics because she can easily scale a five-foot fence, so she’ll need at least a six-footer in her new home! This sweet girl is an absolute love-bug and is an absolute doll around children of all ages, even toddlers … are you in need of some sweet southern charm in your heart and home? Anyone interested in Freja, please check the link above for hours of operation and adoption requirements (meet and greets are a must, especially if there are any other pets in the home!). Once your application has been approved, you get to take Freja home that day! Any additional questions, please email Chris Browder at cbrowder@cityofshelbyvillein.com or call at (317) 392-5127.

Freja is …
– very sweet and affectionate, but a good jumper and will need to go to a home with a fence at least six feet high.
– good with children of all ages, male dogs and cats, but can be food possessive (meet and greets with any other pets in the home is an absolute MUST!).
– mostly housebroken.
– spayed.
– microchipped.
– up-to-date on her vaccinations, wormed and heartworm negative.
– FREE to her forever, loving home!

*Please check out my posts on fellow long-term residents BearOnyx and Kiki who are also still looking for their forever homes. And I strongly encourage you to look at my feature on this shelter, it’s really an amazing place to find your next furry family member!*
