Meet Corkie, a gorgeous five year-old German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix available for adoption at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter! He’s a favorite at the shelter and has been familiar with the staff for several years, but not in the way you think! He was the absolute love of his owner’s life and the elderly gentleman would call the shelter immediately in search of his best friend whenever Corkie decided to be a Houdini and escape to explore the neighborhood. Unfortunately, Corkie’s owner is entering a senior living facility and is unable to take his dog soulmate with him, but at least he’s familiar with the shelter and the staff and is adjusting extremely well. Corkie is good with most other dogs, great with cats, loves kids and is housebroken … essentially, he’s the perfect furry BFF and is just waiting for someone to come in and realize he’s the love of his or her life! Are you Corkie’s forever family? Anyone interested in Corkie, please check the link above for hours of operation and adoption requirements (meet and greets are a must, especially if there are any other pets in the home!). Once your application has been approved, you get to take Corkie home that day! Any additional questions, please email Chris Browder at cbrowder@cityofshelbyvillein.com or call at (317) 392-5127.
Corkie is …
– a very happy boy, but he’s sometimes an escape artist and would need a secure fence!
– wonderful with children and great with cats and other dogs, but meet and greets with other house pets are a must!
– housebroken.
– neutered.
– microchipped.
– up-to-date on his vaccinations, wormed and heartworm negative.
– FREE to a loving, forever home! (*NOTE: Corkie’s fee is waived due to the generosity of P.A.S.S. (Packaging and Shipping Specialists) in Shelbyville. Because P.A.S.S. has such a generous and loyal customer base, they have donated funds that covered his adoption fee and all vetting. P.A.S.S. is located at 500 Saraina Road in Shelbyville and over the years, they have donated a lot of funds that have sponsored many loving shelter pets.*
*Please check out my post on fellow residents Bear, Onyx and Kiki who are also still looking for their forever homes. And I strongly encourage you to look at my feature on this shelter, it’s really an amazing place to find your next furry family member!*
