Meet Cooper, a handsome six year-old German Shepherd available for adoption at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter! Poor Cooper has been through so much in his six years and will need someone patient and (preferably) with German Shepherd experience. He was adopted from the shelter back in March of 2019, but evidently he has been passed around and ended up abandoned in a park, scared and dirty. A Good Samaritan went back to the park every day, feeding him and earning his trust, until she was finally able to get him in her car and take him home to receive care. She said that he’s wonderful with her children and her other dog, but Cooper would probably do best as more of an outside dog (unfortunately, he has no inside manners). There have been conflicting reports on whether or not this handsome boy is housebroken, but he’s a smart boy that knows the commands for sit, stop and lay down. He would definitely need a forever family with the energy to keep up with him and teach him proper leash manners. Are you the loving, forever home that this sweet boy deserves? Anyone interested in Cooper, feel free to stop by any weekday between the hours of 10:30 AM and 4:30 PM and please check the link above for adoption requirements. Once your application has been approved, you get to take Cooper home that day! Any additional questions, please email Chris Browder at cbrowder@cityofshelbyvillein.com or call at (317) 392-5127.

– microchipped.
– up-to-date on all vaccinations and wormed.
