Meet Onyx! *UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!*

Meet Onyx, a happy and high energy Boxer mix available for adoption at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter! This sweet boy decided to be like Mary’s little lamb and followed a little girl home from school one day and he was so good-natured that the family decided to keep him. Fast forward a few months and Onyx (still with all his parts) just couldn’t tone down his rambunctiousness with the other dog in the home. The family decided to surrender him to the shelter in order to give him the opportunity to find the perfect forever home and since he was never microchipped, there’s still no information on this boy’s previous life. Onyx is an absolute sweetheart and loves kids (he even slept in the bed of the kids in his previous home!), but he’ll definitely need a family who can keep up with his high energy … do you think you’re the perfect match for this gorgeous boy? Onyx’s adoption fee is $95, which covers his neuter surgery, rabies/booster vaccinations, wormer, Home Again microchip and registration. Anyone interested in Onyx, please check the link above for hours of operation and adoption requirements (meet and greets are a must!). Once your application has been approved, you get to take Onyx home that day!  Any additional questions, please email Chris Browder at or call at (317) 392-5127.

Onyx is …
– happy and energetic, so his forever family needs to be able to keep up!
– an absolute sweetheart and wonderful with kids, cats and other dogs.
– mostly housebroken with an occasional accident (but he DOES stand by the door to let you know when he needs out).

*Please check out my posts on fellow long-term residents BearOnyx and Kiki who are also still looking for their forever homes. And I strongly encourage you to look at my feature on this shelter, it’s really an amazing place to find your next furry family member!*
