Meet Selene! *UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!*

Meet Selene, a tough-as-nails nine month-old available for adoption through the
Hancock County Humane Society! Poor Selene was found under a bush on Christmas morning, cold, starving and not quite two pounds, even though she was already over six months old. Volunteers and foster families worked tirelessly for months to help Selene take in fluids, gain weight and learn to trust people, but her anxiety would sometimes cause her to overgroom herself and leave bare patches in her fur. Now that she’s with her second foster family, her anxiety is finally easing up to the point where her black fur is growing in nice and glossy and you can see a white patch on her chest! She’s still cautious with people and only likes being held in small doses, but will sleep at her foster mom’s legs for a couple of hours at a time. When she meets her new forever family, she might get anxious and seem unhappy at first, but don’t worry, she’ll adjust … don’t take it personally! This beautiful girl has had such a rough start to life, but now that she knows she can trust people, when her forever family comes and scoops her up, she’ll settle right into your lives and hearts and never want to leave! If you’re interested in meeting Selene, please contact the shelter and let them know you want to make an appointment for a meet-and-greet. Two shelter visits are required before the adoption can be completed and adoption fees vary based on age of cat, age of adopter, etc., so please click the link above for more information.
