Meet Maako, a playful nine year-old Labrador Retriever mix available at the Johnson County Animal Shelter! Maako was surrendered to the shelter when his previous family noticed him starting to have food aggression with the other dogs in the home. This can be easily remedied by feeding Maako separate from any other dogs in the home, but his new forever family will need to keep that in mind. Maako has been around children as young as two years old and does well, but he loves to chase kitties too much to have a feline sibling in his new home. Although Maako is considered a senior at nine years old, you would never know by his active and playful personality! Plush toys are his favorite, but he also loves to play fetch and then when he’s done he’s more than happy to snuggle with you on the couch (or in your lap!). Maako is housebroken, but does not care to be crated, though he is not destructive and could easily be left to free roam once he’s comfortable in his new home. Maako is essentially the perfect dog … are you his perfect forever home? All adoptions are done with approved applicants by appointment only and once you fill out the adoption application, the shelter will contact you to set up an appointment and meet the pet. Maako’s adoption fee is $150, which covers his vaccinations, neuter surgery and microchip registration.
