Meet Alexis, an energetic Black Labrador Retriever mix available for adoption at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter! Alexis was picked up as a stray on March 15th after being discovered hanging out on a local horse farm. She was having a blast running around with the horses and even was found spooning with one in its stall (can you imagine anything sweeter?), but Alexis was malnourished, dirty and in need of vet care. Once brought to the shelter, she has begun to fill out, but at just shy of 40 pounds she is believed to be full-grown. She is an incredibly sweet girl who gets along well with children and other dogs, but will need a forever family that can work with her on leash manners and be active with her … she has so much energy! Are you the loving, forever family that can keep up with this happy and active girl? Alexis’s $95 foster-to-adopt fee will cover her spaying, vaccinations and Home Again microchip and registration. Anyone interested in Alexis, feel free to stop by any weekday between the hours of 10:30 AM and 4:30 PM and please check the link above for adoption requirements (if you have other dogs in the home, a meet-and-greet is a must!). Once your application has been approved, you get to take Alexis home that day! Any additional questions, please email Chris Browder at cbrowder@cityofshelbyvillein.com or call at (317) 392-5127.
