Meet Rizzo, a nine month-old Foxhound/Walker Coonhound mix available for adoption at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter! Despite being less than a year old, Rizzo has already been through two owners through no fault of his own and is looking to find a loving forever family that is the perfect fit! When Rizzo was a new puppy he was given to someone who quickly discovered that two dogs are a lot of work (and money) and that Rizzo needed an owner with more time he or she can devote to training him. He was then given to a friend of the first owner who lived in the same apartment complex and Rizzo did not get along with the man’s Chihuahua, so lucky for Rizzo he came to the shelter to get all the TLC he needs and the chance to find his forever home! Rizzo definitely needs a home with a fenced-in yard where he can run around and burn off all that puppy energy (apartment life does NOT suit this happy-go-lucky boy!) and needs a forever family that can take the time to train him and give him better leash manners. Rizzo is already neutered and current on his rabies vaccine, so his $30 adoption fee will cover his Home Again microchip and registration. Are you in the market for a high-energy and happy boy to bring sunshine to your family? Anyone interested in Rizzo, please check the link above for hours of operation and adoption requirements (meet and greets are a must!). Once your application has been approved, you get to take Rizzo home that day! Any additional questions, please email Chris Browder at cbrowder@cityofshelbyvillein.com or call at (317) 392-5127.
Rizzo is …
– full of energy and would make a great running partner, but would benefit from a family that can take the time to train him and help him with his leash manners.
– great with children and other dogs, but a meet-and-greet with any potential canine siblings is a must!
– housebroken.
– neutered.
– up-to-date on his rabies vaccination.
