Meet Foxy, a handsome three (or more) year-old Shepherd/Chow mix available for adoption at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter! Poor Foxy has been struggling after being surrendered at the shelter and usually has a worried expression on his sweet face, cowering in the corner of his kennel and not even being tempted by cooked chicken for the first two days of his stay. His previous owner moved and evidently couldn’t/wouldn’t take his dog, so Foxy was left abandoned at the home (what I would do to get ahold of such a cold, heartless human) and neighbors ended up bringing him to the shelter for his well-deserved second chance. Foxy is now eating much better and appears to be getting used to using his outdoor kennel, but definitely enjoys being indoors … he needs to find a forever home where he can be spoiled with love, warmth and snuggles! He did well with the children at his previous home and seems to get along well with other dogs, but has never been to a vet (despite state law requiring at least a rabies vaccine). His adoption fee of $95 covers his neuter surgery, rabies/booster vaccinations, wormer, Home Again microchip and registration. Don’t you want to show this precious boy what life can really be like when you’re a loved and adored pet? Anyone interested in Foxy, please check the link above for hours of operation and adoption requirements (meet and greets are a must!). Once your application has been approved, you get to take Foxy home that day! Any additional questions, please email Chris Browder at cbrowder@cityofshelbyvillein.com or call at (317) 392-5127.
Foxy is …
– a sweet boy, but still learning to trust after being abandoned by his previous owner.
– good with children and other dogs, but a meet-and-greet is a must if there are other canine siblings in the home.
– most likely housebroken.
