Meet Cletus! *SPECIAL NEEDS*

Meet Cletus, an adorable four year-old pot-bellied pig available for adoption at Oinking Acres Farm Rescue & Sanctuary! Cletus is used to being an inside pig and is house-trained, but can be temperamental when it comes to his food due to malnutrition as a young pig. He will need to have his food monitored carefully so that he doesn’t get too heavy and put unnecessary strain on his legs and joints (which were underdeveloped due to the malnutrition). He fractured his front right leg last year, but has fully recovered, so the food monitoring will be VERY important … poor Cletus! Pot-bellied pigs are similar to dogs in the sense that they can be house-trained, leash-trained and can learn tricks, but they’re also very stubborn and sensitive. The average lifespan of a pot-bellied pig is anywhere from 12 to 20 years and if you put in the time and love with your little oinker, you’ll have the undying love and loyalty of your pig. This sweet boy has been neutered and microchipped and is more than ready to find his forever home. If you’re interested in a snorting good time and would like to adopt Cletus, please fill out an adoption application online. His adoption fee is $150, though if you’re out of state it costs an additional $100 and your pig must have a health certificate (Oinking Acres takes their pigs to Purdue Large Animal Hospital to have this done and receive the document).

Cletus is …
– a bit temperamental when it comes to food and can startle easily, but warms up quickly when he’s around kind and caring humans!
– best in a home without children or other animals (though he IS fine with cats).
– housebroken.
– neutered.
– microchipped.

Cletus is special needs because …
– he will need to have his food carefully monitored so that he doesn’t put unnecessary strain on his underdeveloped legs and joints due to the malnutrition he experienced as a young pig.
