Meet Elf, a spunky five year-old pot-bellied pig available for adoption at Oinking Acres Farm Rescue & Sanctuary! Elfie (or Elf, as she’s more commonly known) had a horrible life of neglect and abuse and when she came to the rescue her hooves had grown so long they’d curled back like elf shoes (hence the name!) and her skin was in terrible condition. Her hooves were trimmed and her hair has come back so nicely, but due to previous treatment she can be territorial over her food and living space and would do best in a home without children or other pets. With enough time and attention, Elf could make a great house pig! Pot-bellied pigs are similar to dogs in the sense that they can be house-trained, leash-trained and can learn tricks, but they’re also very stubborn and sensitive. The average lifespan of a pot-bellied pig is anywhere from 12 to 20 years and if you put in the time and love with your little oinker, you’ll have the undying love and loyalty of your pig. Elfie has been spayed and microchipped and is more than ready to find her forever home. If you’re interested in a snorting good time and would like to adopt Elf, please fill out an adoption application online. Her adoption fee is $150, though if you’re out of state it costs an additional $100 and your pig must have a health certificate (Oinking Acres takes their pigs to Purdue Large Animal Hospital to have this done and receive the document).
Elf is …
– adjusting to life after past neglect and abuse, though she’s recovered nicely from past medical issues.
– best in a home without children or any other pets.
– spayed.
– microchipped.
