Meet Madame Whiskers! *UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!*

Meet Madame Whiskers, a cautious and curious four and a half month-old female chinchilla available for adoption through NWI Chinchilla Rescue! Madame Whiskers is still learning the ways of the world and is trying to become more outgoing, but once she gets more one-on-one attention from her people, her confidence will be boosted and she can be her best self! She’s relatively easy to pick up and once she’s in your arms she’s one happy girl being handled and petted, no biting or scratching from Madame Whiskers! Do you think you can give this pretty little lady the attention she needs and deserves? She currently lives alone, but the rescue is more than willing to test out if she’ll bond with another chinchilla if you’re interested! Madame Whiskers will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bag of chews/treats, and a printed out version of the care packet. Chinchillas need weekly dust baths, so you will definitely need to make sure you have special chinchilla dust on hand to keep her fur and skin healthy. Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read their chinchilla care packet and fill out the adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out – NO EXCEPTIONS. Madame Whiskers’s adoption fee is $200 and you must come to her for the adoption, she cannot be shipped (NWI Chinchillas is in Hammond, Indiana).

Madame Whiskers is …
– a cautious, but curious girl, and will need one-on-one attention from her person to help boost her confidence.
– relatively easy to catch and enjoys being handled and petted.

I’ve included a link on chinchilla care and FAQs from the rescue’s website. Chinchillas can live approximately 10 years, so taking on a chinchilla is a long-term commitment! Also, make sure you do plenty of research before adopting your first chinchilla … there’s a lot to learn!
