Meet Cupcake! *UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!*

Meet Cupcake, an absolute sweetheart of a pot-bellied pig available for adoption through A Critter’s Chance Rescue! Poor Cupcake was found as a stray with a human belt cinched around her body and it was so tight that it had grown into her skin. She had grown so severely overweight that she was nearly immobile, but with time, love and the care of veterinarians and volunteers, Miss Cupcake is down to a much healthier weight, has lost the belt and is a much happier pig! Look at that scrunchy, smiling face … can you imagine her relief when she was finally free from the prison of the extra weight and that belt? Cupcake loves people, kids and other pigs, so she would be find with any other piggy pals, but she’ll need to stay on a controlled diet because she still needs to lose a little bit more weight. Pot-bellied pigs are similar to dogs in the sense that they can be house-trained (although Cupcake seems to prefer being an outdoor pig), leash-trained and can learn tricks, but they’re also very stubborn and sensitive. The average lifespan of a pot-bellied pig is anywhere from 12 to 20 years and if you put in the time and love with your little oinker, you’ll have the undying love and loyalty of your pig. If you’re interested in giving Cupcake her forever home, please contact Kelly Thomas with A Critter’s Chance Rescue in Plainfield, either by phone [(765) 430-5610] or email (samboni95@gmail.com). The pig adoption fee is $150 and I’ve included the link to the pig-specific adoption application.

Cupcake is …
– even sweeter than her name and loves people (including kids) and other pigs, so she would do fine with other piggy pals.
– still needing to lose a bit more weight (she’s currently 150 pounds pounds), so she’ll need to stay on a controlled diet.
– spayed.

I’ve included a link on keeping pot-bellied pigs as pets … please consider adopting a pig, they’re wonderful animals! Feel free to also check out my feature on this rescue, it’s an amazing place to find a forever friend!
