Meet Checkers, an energetic one year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix available at the Johnson County Animal Shelter! Checkers is all about playing and having a great time, sometimes forgetting that he is around 70 pounds and could knock someone over, but he loves everyone and doesn’t get overwhelmed by people. Checkers is a good boy who loves treats, petting and could really benefit from an active forever family that can take the time to train him all the proper manners. Checkers is untested with children and other animals, so a meet-and-greet with all family members would be very important! If you play with Checkers, you’ll never be bored … are you the forever home that he deserves? All adoptions are done with approved applicants by appointment only and once you fill out the adoption application, the shelter will contact you to set up an appointment and meet the pet. Checkers’s adoption fee is $150, which covers his vaccinations, neuter surgery and microchip registration.
