Meet Harley! *UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!*

Meet Harley, a sweet, yet heartbroken, seven year-old Pit Bull mix available for adoption at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter! As you can tell in the picture, this precious girl is sad (and so is her former owner). Harley was adopted from the Shelbyville shelter six years ago and has been dearly loved, but when the owner moved she suddenly found out NO PIT BULLS ALLOWED! Harley’s owner has tried since October to find a family member or friend who would give her beloved Harley a home so that the family could still have visitation, yet no one was able to take her and the owner followed the adoption contract and brought her back to the shelter. Harley adores children and was in a home with kids ranging in age from two to 15, but needs to be the only pet in the home. She’s housebroken, not destructive and her favorite activity is snuggling on the couch with her people. She knows the commands for sit, stay, in the house and drop it (but don’t expect her to fetch, it’s not her thing). Is there anyone out there who can bring a smile back to Harley’s face and give her a loving forever home? Anyone interested in Harley, feel free to stop by any weekday between the hours of 10:30 AM and 4:30 PM and please check the link above for adoption requirements (due to her breed you MUST own your own home!). Once your application has been approved, you get to take Harley home that day! Any additional questions, please email Chris Browder at cbrowder@cityofshelbyvillein.com or call at (317) 392-5127.

Harley is …
– sweet, friendly, a grade-A snuggle buddy and smart, knowing the commands for sit, stay, in the house and drop it.
– good with children, but does not like cats or other dogs and would do best as the only animal in the home.
– housebroken.
– microchipped.
– current on her parvo booster, deworming and flea/tick medications.
– FREE to her loving, forever home!
