Meet Columbus, or Bus to the loving staff at the shelter, a handsome two year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix available for adoption at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter! Columbus’s story started back in November of 2020 when one of the volunteers saw a man tie this poor boy to the shelter’s front gate with a flimsy piece of twine and then run off. Bus knew how to chew through the string and took off, occasionally being seen around the are, but evading capture for around a year. Fast forward to November of 2021 and he was spotted around the shelter again, looking healthy, but scared. With lots of tempting food in a humane live trap, Columbus was finally brought in to the shelter and started to get a glimpse of what a good life he could have as someone’s forever pet. Bus is still skittish, but he’s slowly learning to trust the staff and is a loyal and quiet companion. Columbus’s $95 adoption fee will cover his neutering, vaccinations and Home Again microchip and registration. Are you the forever home that’s can help this sweet boy understand unconditional love and life as a spoiled pet? Anyone interested in Columbus, feel free to stop by any weekday between the hours of 10:30 AM and 4:30 PM and please check the link above for adoption requirements (you MUST own your home due to his breed and meet-and-greets are necessary if you have children or other pets in the home). Once your application has been approved, you get to take Columbus home that day! Any additional questions, please email Chris Browder at cbrowder@cityofshelbyvillein.com or call at (317) 392-5127.
