Meet Shaggy and Scooby, a bonded pair of two year-old male guinea pigs available for adoption through NWI Chinchilla Rescue! Shaggy (a white and black roan Abyssinian ) and Scooby (an English-crested) were beloved pets before the parents decided they needed more attention than what they were receiving at home with all the children in school, so these boys are used to family life. Though they both enjoy being held, but Scooby (although curious and interested in everything going on outside his cage), is much harder to catch! Once you get ahold of his adorable self, he settles right in your arms to be held and spoiled. Shaggy, on the other hand, is very easygoing and super chill once you pull him into your arms to be loved. And, just like most men, the key to their hearts is through their stomachs … hay and veggies, please! There’s not much these boys don’t enjoy eating and they’re very well-behaved while getting their nails trimmed and interacting with people (no biters here!). Shaggy and Scooby MUST be adopted together (no exceptions) and will come with four pounds of Oxbow Cavy Cuisine and a printed out version of the guinea pig care packet. (NWI Chinchilla Rescue also has additional supplies for sale, such as Oxbow guinea pig food, cages, food, food bowls, water bottles, hidey houses, and more.) Regardless of past guinea pig experience, all potential homes will be asked to read their guinea pig care packet and fill out their adoption application/guinea pig questionnaire. No guinea pig will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out – NO EXCEPTIONS. Shaggy’s and Scooby’s adoption fee is $40 and you must come to them for the adoption, they cannot be shipped (NWI Chinchillas is in Hammond, Indiana).

– very curious and outgoing, although Shaggy is more laid-back and Scooby is a bit more reluctant at being caught (but both enjoy being held once in your arms!).
Note: The adoption link above also has a lot of great information about guinea pigs, who can live anywhere from four to eight years. Adopting an animal is a lifelong commitment, so make sure you do plenty of research before adopting your first guinea pig … there’s a lot to learn!
